For this session, Hong Kong education planners, administrators and academics together with OER researchers will share their views on and experiences with e-learning and examine the feasibility of using open textbooks within and outside Hong Kong. The following speakers will be present to talk on these matters:

Prof. C.M. Leung, Vice President (Technology & Development), OUHK, will present exemplary cases from around the world concerning the use of OERs, including open textbooks. |

Mr Ishan Abeywardena of Wawasan Open University, Malaysia, will give a brief report on a series of research projects being conducted in various parts of the Asian Region. |
(3) |

Prof. Gajaraj Dhanarajan of Wawasan Open University, Malaysia, will introduce various open textbook projects in Asia and the prospects for collaboration. |
(4) |

Mr Kenneth Chen, Undersecretary for Education, will speak on our Government’s policy and plans for e-learning in schools and the role of OERs. |

Dr Robert Fox, Deputy Director of the Centre for Information Technology in Education, University of Hong Kong, will share experience gained from an OER project at the University of Hong Kong. |

Dr K.S. Yuen, Head of Educational Technology and Publishing Unit, OUHK, will introduce a proposal to establish an open textbook platform to offer quality-assured, free-of-charge e-textbooks to Hong Kong schools. |
